There is no permanent cure for eczema, but there are way to treat it. Good skin care is the key way to control eczema. Keeping skin moisturized is a very important factor in keeping down eczema breakouts. There are many ways to do this including: avoiding long, hot showers (try short, warm showers instead); using a humidifier; using moisturizers; wearing soft fabrics; using creams like cortisone; or using a cold compress to prevent the itching. Treating eczema is very important in stopping spreading, but prevention of certain elements can help avoid eczema breakouts. Any allergens, irritants, or other factors that dry out skin should be avoided. These include: cigarette smoke; pollen; rough clothing; extreme cold and heat; dust; clean, fragrance free detergent; and stress. Anything that causes blood to rush to the surface or drying of the skin may be a factor contributing to eczema outbreaks. Find what works for you, and stick to it.
